WHAT IS ASAC?

The Australian Sport Aviation Confederation (ASAC) was formed in 1989 as a national confederation of sport and recreational aviation organisations.ln 1990, it joined the Federation Aeronautique Internationale (FAI), and is Australia's representative on that body.

WHAT DOES ASAC DO?

ASAC has two main roles. Firstly, it is the Australian member of the FAI, the world body which governs air sports, and space and aviation records.

Henk Meertens AM bestowed with FAI Companion of Honour

Former ASAC President and FAI Vice President (Australia), Henk Meertens AM, was recently bestowed with FAI Companion of Honour status at the 105th FAI General Conference in Belgrade, Serbia.

Australian Team Crowned F3D World Champions

Chris and Kevin Callow , who were competing in their 9th World Championship, were crowned World Champions in the F3D Class (radio controlled pylon racing). Australian team of Beau and Barry Murphy were second with Leigh Hocken and Frank Casella sixth. The junior team of tyler and Warren Mees were placed fourth. Well done to the Australian contingent

ASAC Air Sports Gold Medal awarded to Henk Meertens AM

At the ASAC Mid Year Board meeting, and by a unanimous decision, former ASAC President and current FAI Vice President (Australia), Henk Meertens was awarded the ASAC Air Sports Gold Medal for 2010. Henk had only recently won the FAI Silver medal and said he was honored and delighted to be the second recipient of the award, instituted in 2009.
